Peggy the Pigeon
Peggy the Pigeon started off as a funny idea that I wanted to put into a silk screen print. My idea was to have a celebrity red carpet entrance with a bunch of paparazzi, but then instead of some dazzling starlet, there would be Peggy, the most beautiful diva pigeon you’ve ever seen. From there it just turned into a painting because I had a canvas and I’m still not great at using a computer for these things so I just fell back to painting. It gave me a real chuckle as I was painting it, and then I turned her into a 1920’s flapper. And, as is often the case, I didn’t plan this in advance or take it seriously so I had fun and took some risks. It ended up being very popular – and then I felt that I should probably make her a companion.
